Spotify Adds Venue Following for Live Concert Updates

Spotify is expanding its live event features by allowing users to follow specific music venues directly within the app. This update aims to keep listeners informed about upcoming performances and schedules at their favorite local spots.

By following a venue, users gain a dedicated space in their library to monitor event calendars and receive timely announcements. The platform also introduced a filtering tool, enabling fans to sort upcoming shows at these locations by specific music genres.

To improve the relevance of its recommendations, the company is shifting its live event feed updates from a weekly to a daily cadence. This change ensures that concert information remains current for users tracking their preferred venues.

Integrating Live Events into the Experience

The ticketing process remains unchanged: when users find a show, they can select it to purchase tickets through integrated ticketing partners. While Spotify explored internal ticket sales in 2022, the company continues to rely on external platforms such as Ticketmaster and Live Nation to facilitate transactions directly from artist pages.

This initiative follows a series of recent efforts by Spotify to bridge the gap between digital streaming and physical attendance, including:
