Spotify Wrapped 2025 Adds First Multiplayer ‘Wrapped Party’
Spotify has officially unveiled its annual year-in-review feature, marking the 11th iteration of the platform’s signature retrospective. After facing significant backlash in 2024 for an AI-heavy presentation that many users found impersonal, the streaming giant is shifting its strategy for 2025, prioritizing deep data dives and new, interactive social components.
The core of this year’s update is the introduction of “Wrapped Party,” the platform’s first live multiplayer experience. This feature allows users to invite up to nine friends to compare listening habits in real-time, moving beyond static social media screenshots to create dynamic, shared data narratives.

New Interactive Metrics and Social Features
Beyond the multiplayer party mode, Spotify has added nearly a dozen new features to the 2025 edition. Users will now find specific play counts within their “Top Songs” playlist, providing a clearer view of actual engagement time. Other additions include:
- Wrapped Clubs: Users are categorized into one of six listening styles—such as “Soft Hearts Club” or “Full Charge Crew”—and assigned a specific role like “Archivist” or “Scout.”
- Listening Age: This tool analyzes the release years of a user’s most-streamed tracks to identify a five-year musical sweet spot compared to other listeners in their age demographic.
- Top Song Quiz: An interactive game where users attempt to guess their most-played tracks before the final reveal.

Within the “Wrapped Party,” the app generates specific awards for groups, such as “most obsessed fan,” “early bird,” or “dinner table explainer” for those who frequently stream news podcasts. These accolades update dynamically, meaning repeat sessions with the same group can yield different results.

Refining the Experience After 2024 Feedback
Matt Luhks, Spotify’s senior director of Global Marketing, acknowledged during a press briefing that the company received a mix of feedback regarding the 2024 experience. While the previous year saw high engagement, the reliance on AI-generated content was a point of contention for many users.
“We take all of that in. We use that as information, insights, and inspiration for how we approached Wrapped this year,” Luhks stated. He emphasized that for 2025, the company aimed to build the “most creative, most innovative, most engaging Wrapped ever.”

Although the company maintains the 2025 experience was not “made with AI,” they continue to utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) to provide natural language summaries and storytelling layers for personal data. This approach comes as Spotify faces growing competition from Apple, Amazon, and YouTube, all of which have introduced their own variations of annual listening recaps.

Spotify also released its global year-end charts, with Bad Bunny topping the lists for both songs and albums. Joe Rogan continued his dominance in the podcast category, while author Rebecca Yarros, known for “Fourth Wing,” was highlighted among top audio content creators.
