Despite the absence of end-to-end encryption—a standard where only the sender and recipient can decrypt and view messages—TikTok emphasizes that it does not leave user data unprotected. The platform currently utilizes standard encryption, comparable to the protocols used by email services like Gmail.
Under this existing security framework, message access is strictly regulated. The company outlines that data remains shielded, with access restricted to:
