GTA VI Delayed to November 2026 by Rockstar Games
Rockstar Games has officially pushed back the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, moving the highly anticipated launch date to November 19, 2026. This adjustment marks the latest delay for a title that has faced significant production shifts over the past year.

Originally scheduled for a fall 2025 arrival, the game was previously rescheduled for May 2026. In a statement released Thursday, the studio confirmed that the development team requires an additional six months to complete the project.
Commitment to Quality
Addressing the frustration of the gaming community, the studio emphasized that the extended timeline is necessary to meet internal quality standards. “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve,” the company noted.
A Franchise Under Pressure
The anticipation surrounding the sequel to Grand Theft Auto V—which launched in 2013—remains unprecedented. The previous entry holds the record as the fastest entertainment property to surpass $1 billion in sales, achieving the feat in only three days.
Fan interest has manifested in several ways:
- The trailer released in December 2023 set a record for the most YouTube views in a 24-hour period for non-music videos.
- Social media has spawned various cultural memes reflecting the long wait for the franchise’s return.
While the studio has not provided granular details regarding the specific development hurdles behind this latest delay, internal challenges have recently surfaced. Just last week, Rockstar Games terminated between 30 and 40 employees, citing the unauthorized disclosure of confidential project information within a Discord server.
