Spotify Rolls Out Weekly Listening Stats for All Users

Spotify is moving away from its tradition of keeping user data under wraps until the end of the year. The streaming platform has officially launched a new “Listening stats” feature, providing subscribers with a recurring look at their musical preferences on a weekly basis.

Previously, users seeking granular data on their habits relied on third-party integrations like Last.fm or waited for the highly anticipated annual “Wrapped” campaign. This update brings those insights directly into the native app interface.

What the Weekly Stats Include

The new dashboard highlights a user’s top-played artists and tracks from the preceding seven days. Beyond simple rankings, the feature aims to capture the nuance of a listener’s week by identifying specific milestones, new discoveries, and notable “fan moments.”

Social Sharing and Playlists

Spotify has integrated social functionality into the stats page, allowing users to share their weekly highlights via Instagram and WhatsApp. Additionally, users can share data directly within the Spotify app using the platform’s built-in messaging feature.

The interface also includes a utility to generate a custom playlist. This feature uses the user’s current preferences to mix songs they already favor with recommendations for what they might enjoy next, effectively turning the stats page into a discovery tool.

Availability and Future of Wrapped

The feature is currently being deployed to both free and premium accounts across more than 60 countries. Despite this frequent update, Spotify confirmed that it intends to maintain its annual Wrapped recaps, which remain a staple of the platform’s year-end engagement.

To access the weekly insights, users can navigate to their profile image within the app and select the “Listening stats” tab. While this change provides more transparency, it may reduce the sense of surprise that characterized the traditional year-end summaries.
